Pre-menstrual Tension (PMT) has been both used in sarcastic jokes by
some people and a painful crippling experience for other people. Neither of these is necessary and can be removed. Ignore the jokes and follow the tips below. Then both the tension and jokes can be a thing of the past.
In Medical Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine the energy of the kidneys, heart, liver, and spleen, all connect to the uterus to generate an easy healthy menstruation. When the energy of any or all of these organs is out of balance tension will arise.
The most common condition to cause PMT for females is when the energy of the liver is stagnant. This leads to pain, especially before a period as it leads also to energy stagnation of the blood. Stress and emotional pain can result in an outcome of pain and tension.
If the following tips do not release the pre-menstrual tension I recommend an appointment with a reputable TCM or Qigong Doctor or Master practitioner to remove this debilitating and stressful condition.
1. Self Massage of the Organs.
Daily self massage has proven it clears the body energy and allows it to flow freely and in balance; both critical for long term good health. These organ
massages can be done in less than ten minutes.
Daily rub the palms of hands together briskly until warm then place them on the middle of your back at waist level. Rub the palms up and down over the waist level (kidney points) 18 to 36 times.
Place one palm on the right side lower rib cage (over liver) and other palm on left side (over spleen). Massage palms in circles for one minute. Repeat the massage in the opposite direction for one minute.
Place one warm palm in the middle of the sternum (breast bone) and massage small circles eighteen times in both direction.
2. Cherish Your Abdomen.
The aim of this practice is to loosen and relax the whole abdominal area and create space for the energy and blood flow needed by your reproduction organs.
Throughout the massage in your mind, or aloud, tell your abdomen you cherish it.
Place left palm on the navel and other palm over the back of that hand. Gently and slow massage going to your right side then down towards pubic area, up left side to top of abdomen. Use small circles gradually made wider until the circle goes around the edge of the abdomen cavity.
Do for approximately one minute, then reverse the hands and the direction and this time the circles go from large to small so hands end up where they started. This process with the cherishing has a major impact on releasing the stress and tension from emotions and unpleasant experiences.
3. From Sit to Stand.
Every time you want to move from being seated to standing, breathe in and stretch out your arms in front of you with right palm over the back of left hand. Take hands to above the head, let them part as you slowly breathe out and stretch arms
out to the side aiming to bring your shoulder blades closer together as hands return to starting position. Repeat several times.
4. Heel Lifts.
This practice can be done almost anywhere at any time.
Use the back of chair and stand with feet shoulder width apart. Hold on
to the back of the chair and without bending your legs lift and lower right
heel 20 times, then lift and lower left heel 20x.
5. Female Meditation.
Take ten minutes of your time daily to do this meditation specifically for menstrual cycle balance. Sit with back upright on a chair, stand, or be in prone position with palms on your thighs.
Breathe in gently as you imagine the breath going down to your navel.
As you exhale gently and slowly imagine the energy quickly going from your navel down the base of your body and straight up the middle of your body, finishing as it parts at your mouth and ends just below your eyes.
Continue this pattern for ten minutes.
If this is being done correctly your palms will become warmer.
