Yesterday, I was walking down a hospital corridor on my way to visit a friend. There were three women walking in front of me, two in flat-heeled shoes and one in three inch high-heeled shoes.
As we walked I noticed that the woman wearing high-heels twisted/bent her left ankle outwards with every step. It looked as though the ankle bone joint was slipping outwards from side to side. This refueled my concern for the bone strength, alignment, and ligaments of so many feet with the devotion to extremely high heels in our everyday environment. The high heels of today came into being for wear to social entertainment when the majority of time was spent sitting down where the shoes could be seen and admired. In fact males were first to wear high-heels to keep them above the effluence where they walked. Women who wished to be taller took in droves to this damaging shoe fashion.
Unfortunately, it is not only the feet and ankles being damaged. Alignment of knees, hips, spine and neck is under persistent pressure.
1. Shoes with High Heels.
The current shoe fashion for extreme high heels can damage the ham-string tendons at the back of your knees that attach to the muscles in the legs. Continuous wearing of these shoes may shorten or damage the hamstring tendons which are needed for flexibility in your leg, and for walking and moving. Without the hamstrings flexibility the legs are crippled. Also with such shoe heels the whole spine is thrown out of alignment leading to future painful back and hip problems.
2. Using the Lower Part of Your Body.
Our abdomen has the least movement of anywhere in our body. We need to work with this area and one of the ways is through the legs. Women who have difficulty with menstrual periods or menopause will have less problems when they use their legs to assist energy balance in the hips and lower legs.
Do this by massaging the soles of the feet each evening before going to bed. Use the palm of one hand to massage from the sole of the heel up the foot and off the toes. Do up to 100x each foot.
While in the shower (or anytime) rotate your hips clockwise then anti-clockwise to keep the energy and the fluids flowing through the abdomen and the legs.
3. Massage for the Most Effect.
Assist all of your body by massaging up and down your legs. Do this anytime you find yourself sitting down for a few minutes. Vital meridians run through the legs and massage of the legs assists the kidneys, liver, spleen, and stomach in particular for good digestion. Massage UP the inside and DOWN the outside of each leg 9 times (9x) or more.
