I first participated in the 12 Cycle course in 2011, since then I have to included this amazing program in my yearly health regime. This program offers a unique opportunity for personal energy development, based on teaching that is regarded as “very precious” in China. Offered here for the West, it is an extraordinarily effective training for those who want to deepen their personal practice of Qigong. It provides an excellent foundation for advanced study and practice of Qigong and related disciplines.
It has four major purposes and effects:
- To cleanse and purify qi
- To gather and concentrate chi
- To strengthen immune system
- To elicit and develop potential abilities
Its results tend to include stronger and clearer energy; deepened insight and intuition; growth in confidence; and generally improved sense of well being. Increased sensitivity and subtle perception of energy, feeling “more grounded” and “focused” are often reported.
The major component of the program is a series of special exercises comprising movement and specific breathing techniques. There is a strong physical element to some of the exercises.
Daily personal practice (minimum approximately 35 minutes a day) is the essential basis of this program. There are also some lifestyle restrictions that are observed during the program.
The 12 Cycle is not an academic study of Qigong. It is through immersion in the practices and discipline of the program that personal development occurs and the results manifest. A mature level of self-discipline and responsibility is needed to participate effectively in the program.
This program lasts about 3 – 4 months, with some intensive tuition during the first few weeks. It concludes with a residential completion weekend.
